When considering what applications will improve your IT and lower costs, Office 365 is one of the major platforms to consider. Office 365 combines the applications you know and love with new features.
There are 3 tiers to the platform, each offering different functionality:
365 Business Essentials is similar to Google’s G Suite (formerly Google Apps for Work). Essentials has email, calendar, and basic web based apps. However, it includes web-only versions of Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. This is the least expensive option for the 3 tiers and has most basic features.
365 Business replaces the subscription version of Microsoft Office and is the middle package available from Microsoft in terms of pricing. Business includes access to the full desktop versions of Office 2016 for PC or Mac: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. In addition access to web versions of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Business does not have business class email hosting as the other two options do.
365 Business Premium offers Essentials and Business all in one. This option includes custom email domain addresses, calendar, syncing to devices, plus you can download the full desktop version of the programs and install them on your computer including desktop version of Office 2016: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. In addition, Outlook will fully sync to your phone and desktop computer. The most expensive of the 3 tiers, Premium has the most features and options.

Office 365, while not as inexpensive and straightforward as Google Apps (G-Suite), it does provide benefits that may make sense for your business. There is good value for those organizations who are heavily invested in Microsoft products. Using Office 365 can mean less disruption in your workplace, less downtime, and less training for your staff.
Office 365 Added Bonuses:
For smaller businesses who want their contacts and calendar to sync to mobile devices, and want to use Outlook and other apps, Office 365 makes sense. It is easy to sync your calendar with your co-worker's devices. 365 is a cheaper option compared to having your data on a server (but still not cheaper than G-Suite).
An added bonus for those for those who deal with sensitive data, on Office 365 your data stays in Canada. If your company has data that cannot enter the US, this is a perfect option.
The Bottom Line:
365 offers versatility and value for those looking to stick with Microsoft products. Office 365 is a solid option for your business.
